Dæmonary: Book of Phoenixian Demonology
Sin Introduction

Demons are generally defined as malevolent beings with supernatural powers; evil spirits or fallen angels that taunt, tempt, and destroy. However, they may also be neutral, show mercy, be wise, helpful, and beautiful.

They're imps and ghouls and goblins, they're ancient gods, spirits, souls of the dead, guides, and guardians.

They plague the fearful and prey on the weak. They assist the faithful, align themselves with the strong, and turn on the doubtful. They are glorious, and they are grotesque.

Aside from the immortality and other fantastic attributes, demons and humans are much the same, and no matter where you go in time or in the world the demons remain the same only the names are changed.
