Yeti Abominable Snowman

Another name for the Yeti, supernatural primates living the Himalayan Mountains.

During the 1921 expedition to Mount Everest, Colonel C. K. Howard-Bury reported sighting several strange footprints which were claimed by the Sherpas to belong to the metohkangmi or "man-like snowmen."

This term was later misread as "metchkangmi" and then translated by a journalist (probably to sensationalize the sightings) as Tibetan for "Abominable Snowman."

The term metchkangmi has also been translated as foul or filthy dirty snowman.

Also known as The Wild Man of the Snows, and Yeteh which translates to The Thing of the High Places.
