The Phoenixian Book of Creatures
Raven Raven (Native North American)

The creator of the earth, the sun, the moon, and the stars. After creating the world Raven created men or he may have discovered them already created within a giant clamshell.

He saw that the men were lonely so he created animals for them to play with. The men played with the animals but ate many of them. Raven, afraid that the men would eat all of the animals, created some more animals for the men to fear.

Even with the entire world, the sun, the moon, the stars, and all of the animals to play with, eat, and fear - the men were still lonely. So Raven created women for them.

The women paired off with the men, brought perfect balance to the universe, and allowed the human race to continue.

Also known as Yehl, and Grandfather Raven.
